La Gemma dell'Est - The Gem of the East...

Hoping my translation is somehow a little justifiable...

Arriving today a little before lunch, getting taken care of with a warm welcome, a cold face cloth and a refreshing juice - and then "We gave you a upgrade!"

The feeling of having a Club Villa - 3 luxury double bedrooms, all with their own terrace plus a living room in the middle - a terrace there too...

Our son TK: "Dad - this room I like - my own TV, fridge and shower... Let's stay here! At least if we can go in the boat!"

Being a "top of the shelf - all inclusive" resort - with a swimming pool like half a football field - for the ones it fit - this is beyond description. Now after a fantastic dinner in a large, but still intimate and welcoming atmosphere - we look forward to keep you updated!

Moving on to a old favorite - time to test Matembwe Beach Village

We have been sending a lot of our dear guests to Matembwe Beach Village - to Gail and her capable staff - always with satisfaction.

Their description is:

Matemwe Beach Village is a Zanzibari guesthouse... Not a hotel and not a resort and we regard this as a matter of pride!

At Matemwe Beach we have guests and not clients, they relax; make themselves at home amongst our books, games and huge cushions. They make great friends with the staff and the other guests. As to be sure we at all time can offer our esteemed guests the best accommodations while having your adventure in Tanzania with us - we check and test out our partners.

We are now launching our new campaign - Manager's Choice - where our personal favorites will be awarded and promoted. Our other partners are still good choices, but haven't been tested the same way, or are a style which we personally don't chose.

Our testing this times will be in Zanzibar - our program will be posted later.

New balloon safari operator - include a flight in your safari!

A early morning balloon safari - a unique experience which let you see the Ngorongoro Crater, Lake Manyara, Lake Manyara National Park, and Tarangire National Park. On a clear day you can see Kilimanjaro, Mount Meru, Oldonyo Lengai and Lake Natron.



After a early wake up, you will be transported to the launch site, to arrive at 6.00 to get ready for take off. The flighttime is aproximately one hour, thereafter Champagne toast and breakfast along the eatern shores of Lake Manyara before return to the launch site.

Kitulo National Park - "The Serengeti of flowers"

If you in between your wildlife adventures like to have a change of scenery, then Kitulo is indeed a rare botanical marvel, home to a full 350 species of vascular plants, including 45 varieties of terrestrial orchid, which erupt into a riotous wildflower display of breathtaking scale and diversity during the main rainy season of late November to April.



If you come here you find is a hiker's and nature lovers paradise, but the place would appeal to anyone who wants to get away from the beaten tracks and experience remote mountain life with stunning and varied scenery. Like the green, cool mountain area of Usambara, it would make a great getaway spot in the summer months for those living on the coast to escape the heat in December to March. This also happens to be the best time on Kitulo for the spectacular flower bloom season that make the local people of the area refer to the Kitulo Plateau as “Bustani ya Mungu” - The Garden of God – while botanists have dubbed it the Serengeti of Flowers, host to ‘one of the great floral spectacles of the world’.

Bagamoyo - peacefulness, history and beaches...

Bagamoyo - the coastal town north of Dar es Salaam offering the history of the slave routes, a peaceful athmosphere and relaxation on one of the many beach resorts.



Both a historical site and a beach holiday area, Bagamoyo can be visited on a daytrip from Dar es Salaam, but offer good choices if you want to stay some days.

Chumbe Island Coral Park

This uninhabited island outside Zanzibar has an exceptional shallow-water coral reef in excellent condition and abundant fish life. Acclaimed from many, included UN for the initiative of ecotourism and local environmental education programs.



Today a private, non-profit nature reserve, who protect the reef, but also doing community outreach with local school children. More than 200 speiceis of corals, the surrounding water have more than 370 speicies of fish who dolphins gladly feed of, and the island also provides a haven for hawkbill turtles.
